Is a SiteSnap archive accepted as legal proof?
SiteSnap produces a self-contained copy of the page plus a timestamp and a SHA-256 cryptographic hash. The hash lets anyone independently verify the file has not been altered since capture. This tamper-evidence is what gives a web archive evidentiary weight in disputes, chargebacks, and compliance records. How is this different from a screenshot or print-to-PDF?
A screenshot is trivially editable and carries no proof of when it was taken. SiteSnap captures the full page as a single file, records a UTC timestamp, and fingerprints the exact bytes with SHA-256. Re-running the hash later proves the archive is unchanged.
